Tangata Whenua / Treaty of Waitangi

MOTAT is committed to uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and deeply and actively promotes collaboration with community and cultural groups in the wider Auckland region.

MOTAT is committed to uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and deeply and actively promotes collaboration with community and cultural groups in the wider Auckland region.

MOTAT is looking to build on its relationship with the Auckland Regions’ Iwi and in particular Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei who are recognised as the tangata whenua of Auckland. One of the cornerstones of this is to not only highlight and celebrate the technology, innovation, and ingenuity of the tangata whenua and mana whenua but to also understand the positive, and in several cases, the negative impact of European technology upon them.
