Little Explorers is designed to encourage your under-fives to discover, identify and explore their five senses: sight, smell, taste, touch and sound; through STEAM-based activities.
Iti rearea, teitei Kāhikatea, ka taea. Even the small bellbird can ascend to the great heights of the Kāhikatea tree.
Iti rearea means small bellbird in te reo Māori. This Māori proverb describes the journey of our little learners, one of persistence and curiosity. A small bellbird reaches the very top of the Kāhikatea by flying from branch to branch.
Activities will alternate so there is something new each week:
26 July - Make a Flour Pal and explore touch with a variety of textures.
2 August - Learn and discover with our indoor sensory path.
9 August - Storytelling with Rainbow Rascals, exploring animal sounds and musical instruments.
16 August - Get creative with finger painting! Great for imagination while learning about colours.
23 August - Make your own I-Spy bottle and explore sight by looking for things inside them.
30 August - Explore science by learning about light and colours using shadow drawings and rainbow filters.
