MOTAT is OPEN and welcoming visitors. Our opening hours are 10am - 4pm, 7 days, except Christmas Day. We are open on all other public holidays.
We have large exhibition and outdoor spaces to explore and enjoy, and our friendly Visitor Hosts are on hand to answer any questions and assist you with enjoying your visit safely.
MOTAT is committed to keeping your whānau and our community safe. Please be aware of the current requirements to visit MOTAT and please do not visit if you or members of your visiting group are feeling unwell. Thank you.
The Aviation Display Hall remains closed to the public as we redevelop the exhibits and build a new car park. This is set to reopen in August.
Visitors aged 12+ years are required to wear a face mask while exploring our indoor exhibition spaces. Masks are no longer required to be worn outdoors.
Our friendly visitor hosts will be monitoring the site and will have spare masks on hand if yours becomes lost or damaged.
There is no requirement to present a My Vaccine Pass to visit MOTAT. This requirement was removed from 5 April 2022.
As per our current policy, all the MOTAT Team on site are fully vaccinated.
Scanning in is not required, but we do have a NZ COVID Tracer QR code on display at the MOTAT entrance for those who would like to keep a record of their movements.
We ask that your visiting group keeps a 1 metre distance from other visitors wherever possible.
Our Visitor Hosts will be on hand to manage the flow of visitors throughout the site to ensure you feel safe and comfortable at all times while at the Museum.
To minimise contact between our front of house team and visitors we recommend payment via Eftpos or credit card. For an even more simple entry you can pre-book your tickets online.
The MOTAT trams shuttles between MOTAT Great North Road and Auckland Zoo. Trams can pick up passengers at stops indicated on the map below. Please flag down the trams if you would like to board at one of the ‘Requested Stops’.
Visitors aged 12+ years are required to wear a mask while riding the tram.
Please note that the MOTAT trams are not currently travelling to the Aviation Hall.
