Bequests are an effective way of keeping the very heart of this respected institution beating and helping to guarantee the long-term future of MOTAT.

Leaving a gift in your Will is one easy way you can contribute to MOTAT’s mission to be the “must experience” venue that uses New Zealand heritage, Kiwi Ingenuity, Transport, Technology and Associated Stories in an interactive way to educate and inspire the innovators of tomorrow. Your contribution will make a huge difference today and long into the future.

You can chooseto leave a gift to MOTAT’s general operations or a specific area or programme, it’s up to you. Either way you will make a real and positive impact on the work of MOTAT. A legacy, whatever size, is a special gift. If you are considering leaving a gift in your Will we would welcome the opportunity to talk with you about the difference your gift could make.

There are two bequest options available. A Residuary bequest is what is leftover in your estate after all the expenses have been settled.  A Pecuniary bequest is a specified sum of money in your Will. We recommend that assistance is sought from a Lawyer, Trustee or family solicitor to ensure your wishes are clearly and correctly recorded.

GIVING BY BEQUEST – THE FAMILY COMES FIRST

When drawing up your Will, we encourage you to provide for your family and friends first.

There are a numbers of ways to remember MOTAT in your Will:

  • a specific dollar amount

  • a specific % of your estate

  • a specific gift, asset, or property

  • the residue of your estate

HOW MUCH SHOULD I LEAVE?

We would encourage you to give as much as you feel you can. It's easy to add a paragraph to your existing Will. A suggestion for the wording can be found below. If you don't have a Will, see your lawyer or solicitor. It will make the distribution of your estate much easier and give you peace of mind.

WORDING IN THE WILL

This is the wording required to remember MOTAT in your Will…

The Museums receipt signed by one of the Trustees shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Trustee(s) who shall not be bound to see to the application thereof."
