WE ARE OPEN DAILY, 10AM-4PM.
Last entry permitted into the museum at 3.30pm. We recommend you plan at least 3 hours to experience both sites.
MOTAT is open all public holidays except Christmas Day.
Any Covid-19 related closures will be updated on our website and social media channels.
See information about visiting during Covid-19 alert levels here >
Please note the Aviation Display Hall (M2) will be closed to the public until June 2022 for exhibition updates and the construction of a new 155 space car park.
These improvements to MOTAT’s parking and access will result in added convenience and peace of mind that visitors are more likely to find safe, quality parking close to MOTAT.
The Walsh Memorial Library is a reference only Auckland library located at the M1 (Great North Road) site. Access to library resources is available Monday to Friday and research requests can be emailed through to the library. Find out more about the library here.
The café located at M1 (Great North Road) is open 10am - 3.15pm. More information about the cafe available here.
MOTAT is famous for our operational Collection items, our Daniel Adamson & Co. Boiler powered Pumphouse, our fleet of vintage Trams and our historic village are just a few of the experiences we love to share with visitors.
To keep these heritage items operating and in their best condition we must undertake general maintenance on occasion. Whenever possible we will have this work done outside normal opening hours and will always strive to minimise any disruption to your experience when you visit us.
While some unplanned maintance work may occur, we strive to keep you updated of any planned closures here.
