MOTAT offers a variety of programmes designed for early learners, created using the framework of Te Whariki and MOTAT’s mission of inspiring the innovators of tomorrow.

Through the lens of play, learners can engage with topics such as transport, engineering, digital technologies and science. Coupled with exploring the MOTAT site and a tram ride (subject to availability) a trip to MOTAT is a fun and educational day out - sure to engage and delight young learners.

Sensory Science

ECE learners engage with stimulating activities that explore the five senses. Make rainbows, mix colours with light and climb in the glow in the dark den.

Machines in a Toolbox
STEAM CELL

ECE builders use tools to create simple machines, including a skateboard, pulley and catapult. Learners can use real tools while they let their imaginations run wild.

Hey Tram!

Follow the story of Tommy the Tram Diver as he tries to catch up to his naughty runaway tram. This session will take place around our Great North Road site. Learners will engage with our collections as they participate in this hands-on engaging story.

Pardon Me Planes

Follow the story of Penny the Pilot as she tries to find her missing plane! This session will take place in our Aviation Hall amongst the collection of aircrafts. Each ECE learner will get a pair of airplane wings to wear and take home.

NOTE: This is an add-on module, please remember to choose a main programme when asking for this module (not available with Hey Tram! or Pardon Me Planes).
