MOTAT is committed to developing and improving access for all.

The Museum offers visitors with impairments and their caregiver free general admission entry during standard days and times of operation.

You can get to MOTAT by car, taxi, or by public transport and there is mobility parking available at both sites. Guide dogs are welcome at the Museum.

MOBILITY PARKING

Mobility parking is available at both sites.

Mobility parking at MOTAT Great North Road is available within the Museum gates and you need to prearrange access. This can be done by either calling our helpful team on 09 815 5800 or emailing .

Mobility parking at the Aviation Hall is close to the entrance and no pre-booking is required.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY

Many of MOTAT’s public spaces are accessible, but as we are an operational museum spread over a large area with varying terrain, unfortunately not all areas are suitable for wheelchair access.

Areas with wheelchair access include exhibition halls and display spaces, the MOTAT Café and and the MOTAT Shops. Only trams with wide doors (such as the Melbourne trams normally operating during the week) can accommodate wheelchairs and the accompanying caregiver must be available to lift the visitor onto the tram.

Both MOTAT sites have accessible toilet facilities and locations are shown on the .

We have a limited number of wheelchairs available for use while you are at the Museum so please get in touch before your visit for more information.

INDIVIDUAL VISITS

Visitors with accessibility needs can visit MOTAT individually without prior booking. If you would like to make use of the mobility parking at MOTAT Great North Road we require advanced notice so we can arrange for someone to meet you.
