LOCATION

MOTAT has two sites linked by an iconic heritage tram ride:

MOTAT Aviation Hall - 98 Motions Road, Western Springs :

MOTAT Motions Road is the best place to start your MOTAT Journey with a new 155+ space car park (charges apply) right outside the door. This is home to our award-winning Aviation Hall, which will take your breath away. It's the perfect space to see influential aircraft from New Zealand's rich aviation history up close and personal.

MOTAT Great North Road - 805 Great North Road, Western Springs :

MOTAT Great North Road is home to the majority of our exhibitions and café. Think all things science, technology, and transport. MOTAT Great North Road showcases past, present, and future technology to inspire whānau and bring STEAM innovation right in front of visitors.

PARKING

We recommend our visitors park at the MOTAT Aviation Hall located at 98 Motions Road, Western Springs. We have recently finished construction of a new 155+ space car park at this location.

Along with Western Springs Car Park 1 (Zoo) and 2 (Zoo overflow/Tapac) The MOTAT car park costs $2 per hour, but charges are capped at $8, regardless of length of stay. The parking charges will apply from 9am to 5pm.

The parking charges enable the organisations involved to maintain the car parks to a high safety standard and pay for future developments.

The parking meter is located next to the pedestrian crossing leading to the Aviation Hall.

The new MOTAT car park is a much-needed development for MOTAT and the Western Springs Precinct community. Visitors to the area have often voiced their frustration at the lack of parking in the area, with research indicating that 1 in 4 visitors to MOTAT and Auckland Zoo abandon their visit after not finding a car park. You can read more about the Western Springs Accessibility Project here.

More information on the car park can be found here.
