MOTAT has two sites linked by a vintage tram ride:
M1 - 805 Great North Road, Western Springs
M1 is home to the majority of our exhibitions and café.
M2 - 200 Meola Road, Pt Chevalier (closed for construction, opening date to be announced soon)
M2 is home to our spectacular Aviation Display Hall.
We are currently building a new 155 space car park at our M2 site. While construction is taking place, M2 (Aviation Display Hall) is closed and parking there is not possible.
Street parking near M1 is available on Stadium Road and across the road there is car parking to the right of the Caltex station on Great North Road.
We encourage our visitors to lock their cars and not leave valuables unattended when parking in these public parking areas.
Mobility parking is available, more information about accessibility here.
Located just 10 minutes drive from the Auckland CBD via the North Western Motorway, MOTAT is easy to find when you take the St Lukes Road off-ramp, Exit 6. We recommend planning your journey with Google Maps:
Bike racks are provided at both sites.
At M1, they are located at the entry of Stadium Road. These are Locky Docks which require a transport card such as an AT Hop Card to secure your bike, but you do not need to bring your own lock thanks to the technology in these racks. These are free but cannot be used without a transport card. See the video below on how to use Locky Docks.
M2, Meola Road is currently closed for construction. Outside in the car park at M2, Meola Road, there are standard bike racks that require your own locks to secure your bike.
Buses to MOTAT depart regularly from downtown Auckland.
