MOTAT has two sites linked by a vintage tram ride:
M1 - 805 Great North Road, Western Springs
M1 is home to the majority of our exhibitions and café.
M2 is home to our spectacular Aviation Display Hall.
Weare currently in the process of building a new 155 space car park at our M2 site. While construction is taking place, parking at M2 (Aviation Display Hall) is not possible.
Street parking is available along both Great North Road and Motions Road. Park and catch the tram from the Auckland Zoo stop and enjoy the view of Western Springs Park on your journey to MOTAT. Parking at TAPAC and next to the Caltex station on Great North Road is also available.
MOTAT asks all visitors to lock their cars and hide any valuables from sight. Unfortunately, thieves are known to operate in the area.
Mobility parking is available, more information about accessibility here.
Located just 10 minutes drive from the Auckland CBD via the North Western Motorway, MOTAT is easy to find when you take the St Lukes Road off-ramp, Exit 6. We recommend planning your journey with Google Maps:
MOTAT 2 - 190/200-208 Meola Road, Pt Chevalier (Closed 26 July, 2021 - February 2022)
Bike racks are provided at both sites (inside near gate A at MOTAT 1 Great North Road site and outside in the car park at MOTAT 2 Meola Road). We encourage visitors to bring along their own locks.
Buses to MOTAT depart regularly from downtown Auckland.
