Tram No.321

ADOPT TODAY

Many W-class trams like No. 321 were likely used to carry racegoers to the Melbourne Cup during its heyday in the 1930s–70s. Imagine the laughter, excitement, and fashion that graced these tram seats en route to Flemington!

Adopt Tram No. 321 and celebrate the beginning of a cross-Tasman tramway story.

Built in 1925 by Holden Motor Body Builders in Adelaide, Tram 321 is a classic W2-class tram – part of a fleet of over 400 that crisscrossed Melbourne's streets for generations. MOTAT received this tram in 1982 – the first Melbourne tram to join the collection – and it quickly became a staple of our Western Springs Tramway.

Refurbished and returned to service in 2002, Tram 321 now plays a crucial role transporting our visitors on weekends between MOTAT sites. With its wide doors and open layout, it's ideal for modern accessibility needs. But after years of service, it urgently needs a full repaint to preserve its striking livery.

Help keep this historic Aussie import on track – adopt Tram 321 today!
