Tram No. 466

ADOPT TODAY

Tram No. 466 together with Tram No.258 carried 6,000 passengers in a single day at the Wynyard Quarter opening in Auckland in 2011. She was originally built for quiet routes but became a crowd favourite – adopt the little tram that could!

Adopt Tram No. 466 and support the remarkable journey of a tram saved from obscurity. Built in 1926 as part of the unique X1 Class for the Footscray lines in West Melbourne, No. 466 was retired in 1962 when the Footscray system closed. The last tram to return to the Footscray depot in 1962, No. 466 was then sold – its body used as a garden shed for 40 years in rural Victoria.

Rescued and restored by tram enthusiasts, No. 466 was reborn and beautifully restored by Bendigo Tramways. Painted in Auckland’s historic red and cream colours and renumbered 257, she opened the Dockline Tramway in Wynyard Quarter in 2011. Now proudly back in MOTAT’s fleet as Tram No. 466, she continues to charm passengers on the waterfront on Sundays.

As she approaches her 100th year, Tram No. 466 needs a running gear overhaul to keep her rolling. Adopt this well-travelled star and help write her next chapter.
