Current Closures and Maintenance

Where possible, we try to schedule maintenance work during quieter periods to minimise disruption to visitors. We apologise for any inconvenience to your plans.

Please be aware that:

• A new exhibition is being installed in the pink building (Bldg 6, MOTAT Great North Road) and due to open 26 September 2026. Meanwhile, this building is not open to visitors.

• The cannon ball of the Energy Machine in Te Puawānanga is currently out of action.

• The model railway train is not operating as we wait for replacement parts.

• Little Flick is also waiting for a new battery and will be back in action as soon as this is replaced.

• MOTAT trams will not be operating 12-16 October due to essential upgrades and maintenance on the Western Springs Tramway tracks and overhead lines.

• The Print Shop will be closed on 21, 22, 25, 28, 29 October and 1, 4 and 5 November.
